05 - Recap

The most important points from the previous articles:

  • Come into your session with a collaborative attitude, manage your environment as best you can, communicate needs, and ideally be well rested.
  • Communicate possible emotional and psychological barriers to immersing yourself in to the experience, even if it’s just a bad day.
  • Hypnosis isn’t mind control - you take the majority of responsibility for generating your own phenomena.
  • Thank your hypnotist! When things have mellowed out, let your hypnotist know what worked, what you’d like more of, and what you could use assistance with improving.
  • Hypnosis is not a single skill for the subject - it’s a variety of abilities that get better over time.
  • With practice, your responses will improve.
  • It is perfectly normal to have an ‘off’ day.
