210.05 - Links Loops Chains Bombs
I’m still trying to figure out if I vibe with Anthony Jacquin’s Reality is Plastic, but I do like their framework for giving direct suggestions.
Examples
- Links: In a moment, I’m going to pass my hand over your eyes. And as I do, you’ll find yourself sinking, relaxing… blablabla.
- Loops: When x then y, and then when y then x. “The deeper you go the heavier you will feel, and the heavier you feel the deeper you’ll go.”
- Chains: Associating something to an ongoing experience. “Every time you notice a jump in a Minecraft Parkour video, the heavier your eyelids will become.” (Or just stick with the usual with each breath out. Pattern interrupt here - but my lawyer told me not to mention that someone called Narry would get a kick out of this callout. Who knew.)
- Bombs: Build expectation, then use it (Like the links, but with more buildup. Ending with something dramatic like SINK.)
- Bombs 2: Or - probably not quite what Jacquin had in mind but still effective… *CLAP* SINK. NOTHING. DARKNESS.
Rambles
You really don’t need to form your suggestions in a special way for someone to respond hypnotically. You’re working with someone running human hardware - treat them like that. (Unless they’re a Toaster or a fox or something. In that case have fun.)
